When you edit the links on the races page to match the pages you create/already exist, feel free to just change the name of the races instead of just changing the link. So, for example, instead of keeping the race name "Garden Race" on the page and linking it to "The Garden Race", change the name to "The Garden Race" and link it to the corresponding page (I hope this makes sense lol, if it doesn't lemme know I can try to clarify). It is a lot less confusing that way!
