Below is a list of available quests in Star Stable: The Winter Rider.

Function

The goal of the games are to compete and win the final competition and quests are used to reward the player with the Experience Points (XP) needed to reach level 11 to qualify for the final competitions. This is not the only way of collecting XP, as discovering named places around the world rewards the player with 50 XP for each discovery, but it is not enough on its own to reach the final level. Quests reward with more than just XP, some reward with Stable Points (SP) and others with an increase in one or two of the four horse attributes, or in a combination of these three.

Types of Quests

Quests can be categorized into three different types in the Star Stable games:

  1. Story Quests
  2. Races
  3. Stable Chores

There are few quests that can be viewed as part of the main quests. To finish the game, the player has to travel and compete in the final competition, which makes these quests part of the main quests. At the beginning of the game, the introduction quests can be viewed as part of the main quests, as the player cannot ride or interact with the horse without completing them. All other quests are side quests/quest-lines that are optional to complete.

Story Quests

Story quests have no time-limit and are non-repeatable, except for the back-and-forth quests from the final competition areas and Jorvik which are repeatable. They are usually a delivery, gathering or interaction quest given by NPC:s and most of them reward XP after completion. There are also some quests which reward the player with SP.

Races

Races are time based and consist of collecting checkpoints in the correct order within a time-limit. Most races have a time-limit to finish it, but equestrian sports such as dressage do not. Dressage do have time-limits on the collection of checkpoints.

Finishing a race increases one or two of the four attributes horses possess, with a couple exceptions for some qualifiers and final competitions.

Stable Chores

Stable chores are repeatable tasks to earn SP at different stables. Each stable has a quest for watering, feeding, and grooming horses as well as one for cleaning the stables. Within one stable, each chore is rewarded with the same amount of SP, but different stables reward different amounts of SP.

Quest Log

The Quest Log is a way of keeping track of ongoing quests and getting more information about the quest in question. Quest names are color coded: if they’re in progress the names will be in yellow, quest names will be colored in green for quests ready to be delivered.

It is also possible to highlight items to be collected in red on the map by selecting the quest in the quest log.
