Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day (or Galentine's Day) is an event typically held around the month of February and generally lasts two to three weeks. During this event, players can chase and find lost love letters as well as participate in a friendship race.
Note: Valentine's Day will not be returning to the game. Instead, the Equestrian Festival is Spring's new main celebration. This is stated in SSO's news article for the initial release of the Equestrian Festival ("What are Star Stable festivals?" section).
History
The first Valentine's Day event was held in February of 2013. The first year's event started the staple quest of searching for missing love letters. In 2014 the event added special stores to purchase special event items.
The 2015 update added two new quests involving baking special baked goods for Catherine at Stablebucks, and gathering materials for Donald, the Tailor, in Silverglade Village.
The 2017 update added the Valentine's Race, allowing users to collect Friendship hearts to turn in for rewards.
The 2018 update made the biggest change, removing Catherine and Donald's quests completely, but leaving the Love Letter quests, the Valentines Race, and the special Valentine's Day shops.
In 2022, it was announced that the event was now discontinued.
Appearance of Jorvik
Valentines decorations are found in many of the settlements around Jorvik. They are mainly heart themed and cover the areas in shades of pink and red. The decorations consist of Heart shaped balloons dotting the landscape, giant heart stickers placed on walls, heart banners over archways, red lanterns hanging on trees and placed sporadically around the area, red and gold candles, and magenta rose vines placed along fountains, and walls.
Quests and Races
Valentine's Day, at one point had up to three main quests and one race but in the 2018 update the event was reduced to one main quest and race. The main set of quests involves Derek the mailman in Silverglade Village who will task the player with finding and delivering lost love letters scattered around Jorvik.
The Valentine's Friendship Race, requires players to race in a group. Solitary players cannot participate in the race. Once in a group players simply have to finish the race to collect a Friendship Heart, which can be turned into the race giver for a reward.
Gifts and Rewards
Valentines Day, like most major holidays, has special shops available where players can purchase past and current event items.
Derek's Lost Love Letter quests reward players with treats and sometimes special event items.
Turning in Friendship Hearts obtained from The Valentine's Friendship race rewards players with an item from the yearly set of event clothing and gear. Once a player has raced enough times that they have all the current event gear, the race will then give out treats.
