Herding is part of the introductory side quests available during the Camp Western event in Star Stable Online. In this quest, Carl Peterson introduces the player to Camp Western's herding mechanic.

Quest Activation Requirements

To activate this quest, the player must:

1. Have access to the Starshine Ranch
2. Have completed the The Chore Board quest.

Step 1

Lisa, Carl and Josh will be standing in front of the covered wagon next to the arena. Speak with Carl to activate the quest.

‎Herding animals is a fun chore. All you have to do is direct the animals where to go. They're smart, so they'll be rather easy to move around. Let's see how you fare! Try moving them from the white flag to the red one.

Step 2

Only the sheep will be herdable at this point. Push the sheep with your horse towards the red flag. The sheep is slow so you will need to herd it at a walk or trot as to not overtake it. When you have successfully herded the sheep to the flag, Carl will speak again.

Goal: Learn how to use the lures.

‎Offer the tantalizing bundle of grass and flowers to even the most stubborn horse and it will be transformed into a sweet-tempered animal that will follow your lead.

Step 5

Interact with each horse and an exchange box will show up asking to trade the herding lure. Accept the trade and the horses will follow you indefinitely. When both horses are following you, lead them to the red flag. When you are done, speak with Carl to complete the quest.

Note: After completing this quest, Herding Horses will be unlocked, allowing the player to find and bring back four lost horses in Firgrove per day.
