Alder
Alder is the eldest and wisest stallion from the Mystics herd who can be found standing at Tadpole Fens near The Sentinel Tree. Being the elder of the herd, he can be quite full of himself and his herd at times. In the short comics, Alder helped Willow blend into the Mystic way of life.
Appearance
Alder is a Sapphire White Jorvik Wild Horse with blue back markings. He wears a Mystic bridle accompanied by Mystic leg accessories. Alder also has Mystic-style accessories draped over his mane.
Star Stable Online
Alder joked that he knew the player’s name and of their arrival, but in truth he simply overheard the information with its “colt-like” senses and squirrel messengers. Alder believes that the Mystics are the wisest of all herds. The player helped him restore the offerings to The Sentinel Tree which was destroyed. Alder then directs the player off to meet the Warriors herd.
Later, it organised the herd meeting to resolve some issues about flowers being stolen and offering shrines being trampled. Alder defended Willow from Juniper’s accusations that it was the offering day to The Sentinel Tree and had little choice. Juniper respects the reason as it was to protect the Sentinel Tree. Alder ordered the herds to stick to their own territories and not disrupt each other’s way of life.
Etymology
The name "Alder" is a male name with an English origin meaning "old" and may be referring to the alder tree.
Trivia
- Alder is the second oldest horse just after Crabapple who is younger than her by three days.
- Alder's gender was implied in the third page of Star Stable Online's comic of Willow becoming a mystic.
