A suspicious key
A suspicious key is part of the introductory side quests available during the Camp Western event in Star Stable Online. In this quest, Josh teaches the player about Renegade keys and Renegade chests and how to go about opening them.
Quest Activation Requirements
To activate this quest, the player must:
- Have access to the Starshine Ranch
- Have completed the Herding, Gary Goldtooth and the gold, and The big bull quests.

Step 1
Lisa, Carl and Josh will be standing in front of the covered wagon next to the arena. Speak with Josh to activate the quest.
I see you're getting used to the ranch life. Do you mind if I ask you to tag along with me?

Goal: Help Josh figure out more about the mysterious key.
I was riding around the ranch when I found this key. I believe this might have to do with some rowdy kids that started calling themselves "renegades"
It's not like they're causing much trouble, but we should keep an eye on them. Let's look for them.
Step 2
Ride with Josh eastwards of Starshine ranch. Speak with him once he stops.
This seems like a good place to look around.

Speak with Josh again to learn what the key can be used on.

Goal: Find a way to open the chest.
It doesn't seem like there are any of those renegade kids around, but that wolf might be a problem.
I will look out for more wolves approaching if you try to open that chest.
Be careful of the wolf, partner! You'll need to use your head for this one.
Step 4
Attempt to open the chest without getting caught by the wolf. Wait until the wolf is facing away from the you, then quickly run up, open the chest by interacting with it and opening it with the key Josh gave you. Once opened quickly out of the wolf's sight on your way back to Josh. If you have beast repellent, you do not have to worry if the wolf sees you.

Step 5
Speak with Josh again.
