Description

Unique Features
The Stepping Pace
Note: The horse must reach level 7 to perform this gait.
While most breeds in SSO only have five gaits, the American Saddlebred has six. This special gait is called the "stepping pace" or "slow gait". In SSO, no other horse breed is able to do a stepping pace. To perform the stepping pace, the horse must be walking or trotting. The player then must hold down the 'Shift' key and then simultaneously hit either the up arrow or the 'W'. The American Saddlebred will then begin to perform the stepping pace. During the stepping pace, the horse cannot move to a faster gait or jump. To stop the stepping pace, simply slow your horse down like you would with any other. While the horse is in the stepping pace gait, the player will hold the reins with one hand.
The Speed Rack
While all of the breeds in SSO have five gaits; Walk → Trot → Canter → Gallop → Fast Gallop, the American Saddlebred replaces the gallop with a special gait called the speed rack. The American Saddlebred can jump from the rack, just as it would be able to do in a gallop.

A version of the American Saddlebred that is already in Star Stable Online was added to Star Stable Horses. The fully raised foal can be bought for 900 SC.

Trivia
- According to SSO's Instagram, the top three most purchased coats during the first week of release were the Palomino, Buttermilk Buckskin, and Sooty Bay.[11]
- Before the breed was released, SSO announced in a post on Instagram that the Saddlebred would be animated in a western pleasure riding style. This was because they felt that saddle seat "ultimately did not feel safe to represent in Jorvik" and that "[they did] not want to unintentionally depict any harmful practices."[5]
- SSO refers to the buttermilk buckskin as a "silver buckskin." However, the coat being depicted is not a buckskin coat carrying the silver gene but simply a lighter buckskin coat with a grey/silver hue which is a common occurrence in cream/buttermilk buckskins.
- The American Saddlebred has the longest tail style available in-game when styled with the show tail. Additionally, one of the only times that the player will ride one-handed is while in the Saddlebred's rack and stepping pace gaits.
