Description

"Once upon a time, there was a very happy sleigh horse who dreamed of traveling the world, so when it came time for her retirement she did just that! She traveled west, south, east, and north. She met a funny little penguin who became her best friend. One winter they arrived in Jorvik.

Vetle found something magical about Jorvik, especially when it began to snow. It reminded her of her youth. 'It’s no wonder that a winter traveler would choose to stop and rest here,' she thought. She stood in reverie for such a long time that she began to take on the features of an ice sculpture.

If you see a sparkling ice horse, stand perfectly still! If you are quiet, you might see Vetle come to life. If you bond with her, Vetle warms up to romp in the snow as a sturdy Shire."

 

Unique Features

Color Changing

The Vetle is a magical horse with the special ability to change colors. When the player presses the "h" key or the magic horse icon on the horse's character sheet, the horse will change from its neutral colors to its natural (magic) colors and vice versa. The horse will not change colors during races or while the player is unmounted.

The Lay Down

Note: The horse must reach level 7 to perform this move.

The Vetle can perform a special move called the Lay Down. The animation can be activated by pressing the spacebar, but only when standing still, otherwise the horse will jump instead of performing the move.

Feathers 

The Vetle sports heavy feathering on its legs. This long hair covering the horses' cannon and fetlock means that the Vetle cannot wear leg wraps or open front boots in the game.

Colors, Pricing, and Locations

Iridescent Blue with Icey Designs to Black Draft-Type Sabino

The Vetle is sold for 900 Star Coins and can be purchased during the Winter Festival in the Winter Village. It comes in one variation.

Note: This horse is released for limited periods of time and is not always in the game.

• Natural color: Iridescent blue/purple body, with Norse-like designs, a snowy mane and tail and icicles protruding from the chin and chest.
• Neutral color: Black Draft-Type Sabino

Trivia

• The Vetle uses the G3 Shire model.
• The Vetle was released as a pair with Lebkuchen.
• The Vetle, like most other magic horses, cannot have its hairstyle changed.
• The Vetle's neutral coat is almost identical to the Gen 2 Shire's black draft-type sabino coat.
• The Norse-like designs on the Vetle's natural coat best resemble the Urnes art style the which was the last phase of Viking Age art that lasted from the second half of the 11th century to the early 12th century.
  • The designs also resemble those developed in Celtic art during the Celtic revival, a number of artistic movements that occurred in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
• At night, the Vetle's mane, tail, and body designs in its natural coat sparkle and have a slight blue glow effect.
• The name Vetle is a masculine Norwegian form of the Norse Old name Vetrliði, which means "winter traveler" and "bear cub".
• While the Vetle is described as female within the in-game description, players can still choose to label the horse as a gelding or stallion in the customization settings.
