Description

"The swirling seas around the island of Jorvik are teeming with magic and mystery, and from these waters emerged a blazing gold horse known as Sedna.

Legend has it that this easily distracted creature could lead a sailor to sunken treasure—but could also get disoriented or lose interest along the journey. Sailors named the breed after the mythological mistress of the sea.

The origin of these horses is a mystery, but some whisper of a onece lush islet off the coast of South-East Jorvik, where magic horses roamed free. One day the land sunk into the ocean, leaving the horses without a home. The Sedna on Jorvik are believed to be descendants of the horses from this fabled islet.

Whether in its magical form or disguised to blend in with other horses, Sedna rides like the Appaloosa it resembles."

Unique Features

Color Changing

The Sedna is a magical horse with the special ability to change colors. When the player presses the "h" key or the magic horse icon on the horse's character sheet, the horse will change from its neutral colors to its natural (magic) colors and vice versa. The horse will not change colors during races or while the player is unmounted.

The Appy Amble

Note: The horse must reach level 7 to perform this gait.

As the Sedna shares its model with the Gen 3 Appaloosas, it can perform their special gait called the Appy Amble. To do the Appy Amble, the horse must be walking. The player then must hold down the 'Shift' key and then simultaneously hit either the up arrow or the 'W'. The horse will then begin to do the Appy Amble. During the Appy Amble, the horse cannot move to a faster gait or jump. To stop Ambling, simply slow your horse down like you would with any other.

• The Sedna uses the G3 Appaloosa model.
• The Sedna was released as a pair with Proteus.
• The Sedna, like most other Magic horses, cannot have its hairstyle changed.
• Despite appearing fish-like, the Sedna cannot swim any deeper in the water than any other horse breed in the game.
• The Sedna's magic coat is based on the most common color seen in Goldfish, a small member of the carp family. It appears to take inspiration from several varieties of the fish.
  • The Sedna's neutral coat is also a nod to its goldfish origins, as it is a chestnut horse carrying the Champagne gene, commonly known as Gold Champagne.
• The name Sedna (Inuktitut: ᓴᓐᓇ Sanna, previously Sedna or Sidne) has an unknown meaning but is derived from the Inuit goddess of the sea, sea animals and the underworld. While her legend varies across tribes, it typically involved her being taken out to sea, having her fingers chopped off, sinking to the bottom of the ocean, and becoming a (usually) vengeful goddess that must be placated in order for fishermen to successfully hunt.
