Description
"The resilient and surefooted Mustang is a symbol of the untamed spirit of the American West. The breed is descended from horses brought to the Americas by Spanish explorers in the 16th century that were either released or escaped and thrived in the rugged landscapes. Wild mustangs still roam across the country’s open spaces today. The Mustang is a medium-sized horse with a muscular build and expressive eyes, presenting in a wide range of coat colors and patterns. When trained, mustangs excel in various disciplines, showcasing their endurance, intelligence, and strong work ethic.
Starshine Ranch's Carl Peterson, nostalgic for the mustangs of the Western ranches in his home state of Texas, imported the breed to Jorvik, where it has become a fast favorite of adventurous riders!"
Note: The horse must reach level 7 to perform this move.
The G3 Mustangs has a unique motion called the Buck. The animation can be activated by pressing the space bar, but only when standing still, otherwise the horse will jump instead of Buck.

According to SSO's Instagram, the top three most purchased coats during the week of release were the Bay Dun, Grullo Pinto, and Wild Bay Pinto.[11]
The wild bay pinto G3 mustang's coat is modeled after a well-known feral stallion from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado, USA, named Picasso.[12].
While the horse in SSO is labelled as wild bay, the real Picasso is generally acknowledged to have been chestnut with a very dark mane and tail. This is because the color of the hairs below his pasterns, on the tips and rims of his ears, and his muzzle were not black. Additionally, almost all of his offspring were chestnuts except for a few with black or bay mothers.[13]
The bay dun G3 mustang's coat is modeled after a well-known ranch-bred Kiger stallion from Bend, Oregon, USA, named Donner (Full name, Donner Of Steens Mountain).[14].
Donner served as the inspiration and reference for the animated movie, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, where he was used as the motion model for the titular character. After his work with the film was done, Donner was renamed to "Spirit" and was relocated to the Return to Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary to serve as ambassador for the Kiger Mustang breed.[14]
While Donner himself is a Bay Dun, Spirit from the film and books is a Buckskin as he is the offspring of a black sire and palomino dam, while Donner was the offspring of two duns.[15][16]
The grullo pinto G3 mustang's coat is modeled after a feral mare from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado, USA, named Sugar.[17]
The black G3 mustang's coat is inspired by a feral stallion from Sand Wash Basin in Colorado, USA, named Snip. He is a son of Sand Wash Basin's famous stallion, Picasso.[18]
