Description
"No need to be a farmer or forester to appreciate the powerful Ardennes. This sturdy breed is perfect for carriage driving, dressage, and working equitation. It may not be the best show jumper or the fastest galloper in town, but if you are looking for a strong, brave horse who will carry you for hours and hours of adventures throughout Jorvik, consider the Ardennes.
The Ardennes has a good disposition and a calm temperament, so is easy to care for and work with. Do keep up with the grooming of this beauty! If encouraged, your new companion will be delighted to engage in playful activities, so be ready to chase butterflies and plonk down for a snack with this chonky fellow. Treats will win the heart of this giant teddy bear, so make sure to keep some apples in your saddle bag! "

The Sit
Note: The horse must reach level 7 to perform this move.
The Ardennes can perform a special move called the Sit. The animation can be activated by pressing the spacebar, but only when standing still, otherwise the horse will jump instead of performing the move. When the horse sits down, a blue butterfly lands on its nose and then flies away.

Trivia
- The Ardennes is the first breed with feathers that is able to wear leg wraps in-game.
- According to SSO's Instagram, the top three most purchased coats on the day of release were the Bay Roan, Dapple Grey, and Silver Dapple.[12]
- While SSO advertised the breed as the Ardennes, they confirmed in a comment on Instagram that they based the coat colors off of the Swedish Ardennes.[13] [5] While the two share a name, they are separate breeds from one another.
- The Ardennes is one of the oldest breeds of draft horse, tracing its lineage back as far as Ancient Rome.[14] The Swedish Ardennes is a relatively new breed, having been developed by crossing the Ardennes with the North Swedish Horse in the 1870's.[15]
- While the Swedish Ardennes was first considered a separate sub-group of the Ardennes in the 19th century, today it is considered a completely separate breed, and the two breeds are not accepted in each other's registries.[16]
- The Ardennes only comes in bay, chestnut, roan, cream and grey.[17] The Swedish Ardennes comes in black, chestnut, bay, silver, grey, and roan.[15]
- Both breeds average about the same in height (15.3-16 hands), but The Ardennes is significantly denser in muscle than the Swedish Ardennes, weighing 300-600 lbs more on average. This also makes them significantly thicker and more compact in appearance.[15][17]
- The Swedish Ardennes has much more stout legs with very little feathering that typically only covers the back of the cannon bone.[15] The Ardennes has short legs but elongated joints with very heavy feathering covering the cannon down to the fetlock.[17]
