Description

"Jorvegian legend tells of two horses that control the weather–siblings at war with each other for eons.

Enter Bronte, the harbinger of the storm.

Mysterious by nature, Bronte is the perfect horse for adventure seekers. Whether you’re exploring the island or shooting for the stars, Bronte embraces a transient routine.

Her greatest tragedy struck when she sought to end her conflict with Serenus. As she drew closer to his clouds, her mane erupted into a thunderous tempest, accidentally damaging her brother’s wings. Since that day she has bound herself to Jorvik as penance.

Will you be the one to reunite these siblings so that Bronte can finally be at peace?"

Unique Features

Color Changing

The Bronte is a magical horse with the special ability to change colors. When the player presses the "h" key or the magic horse icon on the horse's character sheet, the horse will change from its neutral colors to its natural (magic) colors and vice versa. The horse will not change colors during races or while the player is unmounted.

The Extended Trot

Note: The horse must reach level 7 to perform this gait.

While most breeds in SSO only have five gaits, the Bronte has six. This special gait is called the "Extended Trot". In no other horse breed is able to perform the extended trot. To perform the extended trot, the horse must be walking or trotting. The player then must hold down the 'Shift' key and then simultaneously hit either the up arrow or the 'W' key. The Bronte will then begin to perform an extended trot. During the extended trot, the horse cannot move to a faster gait or jump. To stop performing the extended trot, simply slow your horse down like you would with any other.

The Piaffe

Note: The horse must reach level 7 to perform this move.

The Bronte can perform a special dressage move called the Piaffe. The animation can be activated by pressing the spacebar, but only when standing still, otherwise the horse will jump instead of Piaffe.

Trivia

  • The Bronte uses the G3 Dutch Warmblood model.
  • The Bronte released as a pair with Serenus.
  • While the Bronte is described as female within the in-game description, players can still choose to label the horse as a stallion or gelding in the customization settings.
  • The name Bronte comes from the Greek work, Βροντή, meaning "thunder." This was the name of the goddess of thunder who acted as Zeus' shield bearer and was tasked with carrying his thunderbolts. [5]
  • The Bronte's special gait, the extended trot, is performed incorrectly. When the horse's forelimb moves forward, it strikes out, causing a showy "toe flicking" motion. This indicates there is no connection or engagement through the hindquarters and the horse is simply just throwing out its limbs, cutting its stride short and forcing it to overcompensate when it brings its leg back down to maintain balance.[6] In addition to this, it is also damaging to the horse's leg and back. During the flick, the fetlock muscles become relaxed and cannot brace for impact with the ground leading to the horse bending it too deeply.[7] The motion causes full body tension, especially in the broad back muscle leaving no room for relaxed open shoulder movements required for a harmonious gait.[8] This has led to increased concussive impact on the limbs and a sharp rise in leg injuries in sport horses.[9]
