Description

"Jorvegian legend tells of two horses that control the weather–siblings at war with each other for eons.

Enter Serenus, the incarnation of tranquility. His ethereal aura is enough to ease all your worries, and he longs to protect those close to him, just like the clouds shield from the sun.

Yet beneath his calmness lies a melancholy, for Serenus’ wings were damaged when he tried rescuing Bronte from a storm of her own making. Since then he has been bound to Jorvik, wishing to tell his sister he forgives her.

Will you be the one to reunite these siblings so that Serenus can find his spark again?"

Unique Features

Color Changing

The Serenus is a magical horse with the special ability to change colors. When the player presses the "h" key or the magic horse icon on the horse's character sheet, the horse will change from its neutral colors to its natural (magic) colors and vice versa. The horse will not change colors during races or while the player is unmounted.

The Extended Trot

Note: The horse must reach level 7 to perform this gait.

While most breeds in SSO only have five gaits, the Serenus has six. This special gait is called the "Extended Trot". In no other horse breed is able to perform the extended trot. To perform the extended trot, the horse must be walking or trotting. The player then must hold down the 'Shift' key and then simultaneously hit either the up arrow or the 'W' key. The Serenus will then begin to perform an extended trot. During the extended trot, the horse cannot move to a faster gait or jump. To stop performing the extended trot, simply slow your horse down like you would with any other.

The Piaffe

Note: The horse must reach level 7 to perform this move.

The Serenus can perform a special dressage move called the Piaffe. The animation can be activated by pressing the spacebar, but only when standing still, otherwise the horse will jump instead of Piaffe.

Colors, Pricing, and Location

Cloudy Blue Pegasus to Palomino Pinto

The Serenus is sold for 950 SC and can be purchased during the Rainbow Festival in the Fort Pinta. It comes in one variation.

Note: This horse is released for limited periods of time and is not always in the game.

  • Neutral color: Palomino Pinto

Trivia

  • Serenus is the first Pegasus to be introduced in-game.
  • The Serenus uses the G3 Dutch Warmblood model.
  • The Serenus released as a pair with Bronte.
  • Despite having wings, the Serenus cannot fly and cannot jump higher/farther than any other horse breed in the game.
  • While the Serenus is described as male within the in-game description, players can still choose to label the horse as a mare in the customization settings.
  • The name Serenus is of Latin origin. It is an adjective, meant to describe something that is clear, fair, bright, serene, or tranquil, but can also describe something that clears the sky or brings fair weather. [5]
  • The Serenus' special gait, the extended trot, is performed incorrectly. When the horse's forelimb moves forward, it strikes out, causing a showy "toe flicking" motion. This indicates there is no connection or engagement through the hindquarters and the horse is simply just throwing out its limbs, cutting its stride short and forcing it to overcompensate when it brings its leg back down to maintain balance.[6] In addition to this, it is also damaging to the horse's leg and back. During the flick, the fetlock muscles become relaxed and cannot brace for impact with the ground leading to the horse bending it too deeply.[7] The motion causes full body tension, especially in the broad back muscle leaving no room for relaxed open shoulder movements required for a harmonious gait.[8] This has led to increased concussive impact on the limbs and a sharp rise in leg injuries in sport horses.[9]
